World-renowned architect Tadao Ando’s “Arbor for Art," the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth is a striking building that embodies the pure, unadorned elements of a modern work of art. It is composed of five pavilions of concrete and glass set on 11 naturally landscaped acres, including a 1.5-acre reflecting pond. The Modern maintains one of the foremost collections of postwar art in the central United States, consisting of more than 3,000 significant works of modern and contemporary international art.
There's a reason Travel + Leisure magazine rated Bass Performance Hall as one of the Top 10 opera houses in the world. It houses the Fort Worth Opera, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Texas Ballet Theater, various touring Broadway shows, and performers such as Lyle Lovett and Tony Bennett. Sure, the architecture of the hall itself is magnificent, but what really sets the Bass apart is its extraordinary acoustics.
This is a great way to experience Fort Worth's history. The Stockyards was once the second-largest cattle market in the world. Adding to the rich architectural legacy of Fort Worth’s Cultural District, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History’s brand new $80 million facility is dazzling with its bright colors, geometric forms, and abundant natural light. Designed by internationally acclaimed architectural firm Legorreta + Legorreta, the new facility opened in November 2009. Exhibits include DinoLabs; Paluxysaurus jonesi, the official dinosaur of Texas; the Noble Planetarium; the Fort Worth Children’s Museum; Innovation Studios; and the Omni IMAX theatre.
